CHLA Members Honored at 2017 National AHLA Stars of the Industry Awards

On Wednesday, May 17th, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) announced the winners of the AHLA Stars of the Industry Awards for outstanding hotel employees and properties. Two California nominees were awarded with AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards. Awarded annually since 1966, these awards distinguish individual hotels that have developed outstanding programs, events, and campaigns and employees for their outstanding accomplishments, service, and leadership in the hospitality and lodging industry. CHLA member winners were chosen in the categories of outstanding general manager of the year (large property) and Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader.

The winner of the outstanding general manager of the year for a large property was  John Evans , General Manager of the Silverado Resort & Spa. With over 20 years experience in the Hospitality industry and a proven track record of success, John Evans has developed a professional manner with the ability to track, measure and continuously evaluate until success is achieved.

The winner of the Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader award, is Jessica Gaskin , Director of Housekeeping at the Omni San Francisco. Jessica finds success in taking on every assignment as a learning opportunity for herself and for those who will come after her. In 2012, Jessica won the Hotel Council of San Francisco’s “Rising Star” award.
