CHLA Members Honored at National AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards

Washington, DC – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today announced the winners of the AHLA Stars of the Industry Awards for outstanding hotel properties and employees. Three California nominees were awarded with AHLA Stars of the Industry Awards. Awarded annually since 1966, these awards distinguish individual hotels that have developed outstanding programs, events, and campaigns and employees for their outstanding accomplishments, service, and leadership in the hospitality and lodging industry. CHLA member winners were chosen in the categories of Outstanding General Manager of the Year, Emerging Hospitality Leader and Property of the Year.

The winner of the Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a small property was Anna Marie Presutti, General Manager of the Hotel Nikko San Francisco. Starting her career wearing “Mickey Mouse” ears in Orlando, Anna Maria has 28 years of experience, and is no stranger to receiving prestigious honors, having won numerous ones prior to this. As a leader in community service projects, a mentor to women, a supporter in educational opportunities for our next generation, and a savvy business negotiator, there’s no doubt that Anna Marie’s leadership, vision and character are shining examples for the hotel, across the hospitality, and beyond.

The winner of the Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader award, is Jennifer Yang, Director of Reservations at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. In eight years, quickly moving up the ranks, Jennifer has embraced the core values necessary to grow and succeed in the hospitality industry. It is fitting that Jennifer has received this honor, which is named after one of the industry’s most beloved hoteliers, given her leadership, and dedication to guest service and exceptional results, coupled with her fresh perspectives and problem solving capabilities. She has earned the respect of her colleagues and superiors as a true emerging hospitality leader.

The winner of the AHLA Property of the Year for a large property was the W San Francisco. The W San Francisco is a true champion for its sustainability practices and community service engagement, and has been a leader in engaging with the Bay Area and protecting the environment by implementing new ways to reduce its carbon footprint.
