Governor Newsom Signs Bill Creating Level Playing Field With Short-Term Rentals

Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 346 (Durazo, D) this week, a major win for the lodging industry. The new law requires short-term rental platforms to share host information with local governments, helping identify illegal rentals and ensure proper tax collection – bringing the tourism industry one step closer to a level playing field. The measure was sponsored by the League of California Cities and the California County Tax Collectors Association and was heavily supported by CHLA.
