CHLA Testifies On Hotel Industry Challenges At State Hearing

This week, CHLA provided public comment highlighting the state of the hotel industry and the contributing factors that create a difficult operating environment for hoteliers during a hearing called by the California Legislature’s Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism Committee. CHLA testimony during the hearing, which was called to discuss, ”The Current Outlook of California’s Tourism Industry,” highlighted the need for improved transportation infrastructure and additional investment into stabilizing HWY 1, particularly along the Central Coast; the need to provide hoteliers with the operational flexibility to develop demand through incentives, promotions, and more; the need for better tax policy and a brief dive into the damaging impact these policies currently have on the hotel market; and the need to let policies put in place to respond to COVID-19 sunset.
