Newsom Establishes Statewide Strike Team To Coordinate 2028 Olympic Preparations

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order establishing a statewide strike team to coordinate California’s preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, appointing Jamie Callahan as executive director. The team will bring together more than a dozen state agencies, local governments and LA28 organizers to coordinate operations, streamline permitting, strengthen public safety and expand workforce and economic opportunities. The effort builds on existing state investments in transportation, infrastructure and venue improvements, including more than $600 million in funding for mobility, transit and transportation projects ahead of the Games.
