San Diego Adopting New Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance

The City of San Diego has passed a Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance that phases in minimum wage increases for hotel employees, starting at $19 per hour on July 1, 2026, and reaching $25 per hour by 2030. The law applies to hotels with 150+ rooms, as well as contractors, subcontractors, and on-site facilities like restaurants, retail shops, event spaces, and spas – including leased spaces. The phased approach was a significant improvement from the original concept of immediately going to the highest wage at the start of next year. Following a second procedural vote in the coming week, Mayor Todd Gloria will have 10 days to sign the bill.
