L.A. City Council President Moves To Delay Full Olympic Wage Boost For Tourism Workers

The debate over Los Angeles’ plan to raise hotel and airport worker wages to $30 an hour by 2028 has resurfaced after City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson introduced a motion to delay the full increase until 2030. Labor unions criticized the proposal, while hotel and business groups said a slower phase-in would ease financial pressure on the industry. The motion comes as airline and hotel interests pursue a separate ballot measure to repeal the city’s business tax, and will now move to two committees for review.
