Governor Extends Order Allowing Extended Hotel Stays For LA Fire Survivors

Governor Gavin Newsom has extended his executive order allowing LA wildfire survivors in Los Angeles to remain in hotels for more than 30 days without being classified as tenants. The order, first issued on March 7, 2025 and now extended to October 1, 2025, removes regulatory barriers for lodging operators and helps ensure displaced residents have continued access to temporary housing. Hotels continue to play a critical role in recovery efforts, and CHLA supports the governor’s extension.
