New Forecast Downgrades U.S. Hotel Forecast

STR and Tourism Economics made significant downward adjustments to the 2024-25 U.S. hotel forecast just released. The latest revision reflects lower-than-expected performance thus far in 2024 as well as lessened growth projections for the remainder of the year. For 2024, projected gains in average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) were downgraded to growth of 1.0% and 2.1%, respectively. Occupancy for the year is now expected to decline after the previous forecast projected year-over-year growth in the metric. Marriott To Convert Three U.S. Properties To Branded Hotels

Marriott International, Inc. announced plans to convert three luxury properties in the United States to brands within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. The Resort at Pelican Hill, Turtle Bay Resort, and a Midtown hotel in New York City are all expected to join Marriott Bonvoy’s luxury brands this summer. The Resort at Pelican Hill is located in Newport Beach, California, and is expected to join Marriott’s luxury portfolio on July 1. The 504-acre resort sits on the coast of Newport Beach and includes the Pelican Hill Golf Club, featuring two 18-hole golf courses with 270-degree ocean views. The Irvine Company will continue to own the property, with Marriott managing, and it is expected to be converted to a St. Regis at a later date.

DSRT Surf Resort In Palm Desert To Premiere In 2026

Construction is officially underway on the highly anticipated DSRT Surf Resort. This 17-acre AO-designed destination in Palm Desert, Calif., developed by Beach Street Development & Operations, will be California’s first facility to offer man-made surf waves open to the public. The resort’s features include a cutting-edge surf lagoon, four-story hotel, surf center, restaurant, boardwalk, and beaches, with construction expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.
